Slinkachu:
Who and What is Slinkachu?Slinkachu is an anonymous artist who was originally based in London, he uses angles, improvisation and creativity to make these images unique, and telling a story of the miniature figures, and their perspective of these everyday mundane items that we take for granted everyday, for example a crisp packet. We may take this for granted everyday as we just walk past an empty packet, but this is a totally different end of the metaphorical stick for the small figurines. His work could fall under the category of Narrative Photography, as this provides a different and unique angle from the figurines perspective. This style of photography breathed new air across the Photographic community and now he has traveled all over the world whilst developing these images, from his hometown of London, to Milan, Amsterdam, Manchester and Barcelona.
Slinkachu: Critical Analysis
Context:
Slinkachu used a lot of everyday mondane objects and made a story with them, this piece here is an example of narrative photography. I think that Slinkachu was trying to portray a message that little things make a big difference to some people. Here we see an ice lolly on the floor, and the juice from the lolly is beginning to melt, inside the melted pool is a figure swimming in it, and another jumping from the stick like a diving board. Content: Slinkachu was born in Devon, England. In Devon, it is nutourious for being a place of hard work, and manual labour. Because of their hard work they may be more grateful for the smaller things, therefore this could have had an effect on Slinkachu's thinking behind this piece. Process: This picture is very clear and is in colour. Therefore this image may have been captured in more recent times, and could have been uploaded and edited in photoshop. Form: I feel that he has used this to teach us a lesson, that even little things can make a big difference. A person may have dropped their lolly on the floor and not felt any emotion after losing it. However, these figures at the bottom seem like Christmas has come earluy for them, and this is their version of paradise. Evaluate: I feel that this piece teaches us a lesson, and that this was his intention when developing the image. Here he [Slinkachu] has used different angles and props to create an effective image that we can learn from. |
